Complementarily, while you may manage your day-to-day record-keeping in OHR with ease, larger tasks may present more of a challenge or may not be reasonable to fit in your schedule even if you have the expertise to do the larger task. This could be, for example, bulk data inserts, getting legacy data into your new OHR system, and doing the quality assurance checks critical for any data system to secure quality, accurate data in the system. Our Days Are Full: We Know Homeschooling

We made an application that is developed to meet the homeschool family’s unique needs. We understand first-hand that life is full as a homeschool parent, and homeschoolers need a system that gets record-keeping work done quickly and easily.

Not only do we develop OHR for the community at large, we also used it ourselves on a smaller scale in our own homeschool for our three children, two in elementary and one in high school. The application was born out of necessity for our record-keeping needs and fast-paced lives.

At SowCo Develops, we, Mom and Dad, split the responsibility to educate our children and manage all of their school tasks. So, we are two parents heading one job. As full-time professionals, one as owner of SowCo Develops and the other as senior pastor of churches in need of revitalization, we are two very busy parents directing one job, the education of our children and management of school tasks. We have been married over two decades, and we are wholeheartedly and passionately dedicated to family, home, and our local church. Our mission above all in everything we do is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever, and our work is for Christ and His glory. To this end, the kids are just as active as Mom and Dad. They spend a significant amount of time with us in the work of the church and in hosting numerous church members and visitors every week. We needed an application where the entire family could stay on track, real-time, and where we, the parents, could manage our children’s school, sports, and extra-curriculars all with very little time between the two of us for daily briefings. OHR enabled us to stay on track and accurately communicate real-time status of our school, while, at the same time, allowing for our full-time work in the business, homemaking, and the church.

What is the OHR platform?

OHR is a cloud-based solution hosted on our servers. You can access it via your preferred internet browser on your personal computer, tablet, or mobile device.

I am an OHR user. Can I switch to another software provider for my homeschool records or keep my data even after I cancel my subscription?

Yes, your data always belongs to you. You can back up all your OHR data directly from your web browser or contact us to extract it for you, allowing you to migrate the data to your new provider or securely store it on your personal computer.

Does OHR have a mobile application available for download on my mobile device?

Currently, we do not have a mobile app available. However, the development of a mobile app is in our pipeline. We aim to ensure that our primary OHR application, designed for web browsers, is robust and that our existing customer base on the web browser is well-supported before initiating work on the mobile app. To stay informed about our progress, follow us on social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, X, YouTube), or join our community forum. In the meantime, you can access OHR through your mobile device's browser, as our platform is optimized for mobile use while you're on the move.

Why are your login standards so stringent?

We require a certain level of technical expertise from our users to ensure the security and integrity of our product. Stringent login standards are in place to protect three key groups: you, the consumer; our entire user base; and SowCo Develops. Users must create a strong password of at least 12 characters and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) using an app that supports the industry-standard TOTP protocol. Compatible apps include Microsoft Authenticator, 1Password, LastPass, Authy, Google Authenticator, Duo, and other trusted key generators.

While we recognize that this added step may deter some potential customers, it ensures that our user base consists of individuals knowledgeable enough to maintain these security measures. This reduces the risk of data breaches due to inadequate security practices. It also protects one of SowCo Develops' most valuable resources, our employee's time, preventing prolonged investigations, follow-up, and damage control caused by avoidable breaches. By maintaining these high standards, we can keep operating costs low and pass those savings on to you, the customer. Moreover, this requirement helps foster a technically-savvy community that collaborates to ensure the safety of all data, assets, and systems, thereby strengthening the OHR community as a whole.
